Our Work

Bradawl Carpentry can satisfy all of your wood-working requirements, from changing a door handle to fitting a kitchen.

Below, you will find examples of some of our work. Please note, this is only a short list from what we can do, we would be happy to take on jobs which aren't mentioned below. Please contact us for further details.

Architraves & Skirting Boards

We supply and fit a range of skirting boards and architraves including purpose made products for old houses where discontinued products exist.

Standard items which we fit are in the skirting board range, chamfered and round 3" and 4" skirting board range which would be nailed to the existing wall. 5", 6" and 7" Taurus and Ogee skirting boards which would be screwed to the existing wall. We provide the option of fitting wood plugs to the screw holes. External corners mitred and internal corners scribed.

Ceilings

We fit Suspended Ceilings using either a Plasterboard & Skim finish or a Tongue & Groove match boarding timber finish. This can then be varnished, stained, waxed or painted to suit individual taste.

The framework is constructed of high quality wood and is structurally very sound. You have the additional option of increasing the thermal insulation of the room by adding rockwool insulation to keep you warm in those cold winter months.

Cupboards

Our cupboards are purpose made to give extra storage space whilst still keeping with the style of your room. We can fit cupboards into awkward areas, such as alcoves in living rooms.

Dado & Picture Rails

We supply and fit a range of dado and picture rails to increase the beauty of your home.

Doors & Frames

A wide range of doors are available to suit all manor of tastes and budgets.

With the free quote you will be able to view our full range of internal and external doors that are available to you. You will also have a choice of locks, handles and letter boxes in order to give you a designer door to suit your specific requirements.

Encasing (Boxing In)

For all those unsightly pipes and general areas you want covered, we do a boxing-in service. It is a very good way of making an aesthetically pleasing feature out of an eyesore.

Floors

We offer a wide range of different types of flooring services including suspended ground floors, first floors & joists, repairs to damaged floor boards, laminated floors and parquet timber flooring.

Gardens

We provide a range of timber related garden services. These include decking, pergolas, fencing, gates and sheds. All the timbers used in the garden product range are treated with preservative for lasting protection.

General DIY

We can also provide you with a general DIY service for small jobs such as fitting curtain rails, hanging pictures & mirrors securely, assembling flat-pack units and fitting smoke alarms etc.

Holiday Homes

If you own a holiday home and need any renovation doing we are happy to carry this out, if you cover the cost of our accomodation or it is liveable we are happy to stay on the job.

We have carried out previous renovation on a holiday home at robin hoods bay called "Fishermans Cottage", near the sea front.

InsulationWe provide Sound & Thermal Insulation for Lofts, Floors and Partitions. Extra insulation can also be provided to existing walls.

Kitchens

Our extensive catalogue caters for all tastes with a variety of different styles of kitchen.

The joints in the kitchen worktops can either be done with metal joining strips or flush mitre joints, depending on the quality of finish required. Worktops are available in either a 28mm or 38mm finish.

All relevant kitchen accessories are available and all of our kitchens come with a minimum guarantee of 12 months.

Loft Work

Loft access frames and trap doors can be moved or made bigger. We also install fitted ladders and chip board flooring (with the option of 4 x 2 timbers fitted to existing ceiling joists where extra insulation and strength is needed).

Panelling

Primarily a feature product to enhance the appearance of a room or area, it is most commonly applied to hall ways and bath rooms but can be an excellent feature of any room.

Partitions

This is a functional product and allows you to separate rooms potentially creating more personal space where required.

It would also add to thermal insulation keeping the heating costs down. Extra thermal and acoustic insulation can be achieved by fitting the relevant insulation products during construction.

Traditional carpenters joints can be used in construction to prevent any warping. Nogging can also be fitted as an optional extra to give a solid stable construction. The finish is usually plasterboard and skim.

Radiator Covers & Fire Surrounds

There are a range of different styles of radiator covers and fire surrounds available.

For any irregular requirements we do offer custom-made radiator covers and fire surrounds.

Repairs & RestorationWe offer a wide range of repair services.

Internally: ranges from damaged and old furniture to old kitchen draws.

Externally: ranges from rotten windows to rotten pillars. Even if the rot is on a listed building there are products available that would allow us to replace the rot where required without altering the appearance of the building in question. We use a high quality repair resin system in conjunction with new timber, which can be sanded down on completion for immaculate results.

SecurityWe offer a range of locks for external doors from basic security up to insurance approved mortice locks.

Also available for external doors are hinge bolts that ensure protection across the whole door as intruders can often attack the hinge side in order to bypass a good quality lock.

Highly resilient door chains & door viewers can be installed to enable you to view ID cards etc. before allowing entry.

Also available are a range of window locks.

Shelving

A wide range of shelving is available from us, to suit any kind of situation. A variety of materials can be used including: Veneered MDF; Chipboard; Melamine faced chipboard, in a range of wood grain finishs; MDF; Plywood and solid timber which can be finished to suit individual tastes. The shelves can be fitted using wall battens or a range of brackets. For light duty use and an eye catching finish floating shelving is also available from us.

Sliding Sash WindowsWe offer a sash window repair service for old rotten windows. Do you have a broken cord on a sliding sash window? We can replace them with new waxed, rot resistant sash cords.

Security: Old broken fasteners & sash lifts can be replaced with new ones in either brass or chrome. Extra window locks can be fitted specially designed for sliding sash windows.

Stair Balustrading

A product that enhances the beauty of your stairs, making it not only functional but also a feature of the house.

The stair balustrading encompasses newel posts, a handrail, a base rail, spindles and newel caps.

We offer an extremely wide range of products, not only in style but also in the type of timber that is used for the stair balustrading.

StrippingWe have the tools & skills to undertake work such as stripping paint or varnish from timber and sanding it down to give a good as new finish.

We also strip wallpaper from walls and ceilings.

Wardrobes

Purpose made and built-in to meet your needs; the wardrobes are designed to customer specification, and are made and fitted to a very high standard.

There is a wide range of products available to suit all tastes in style, colour and budget including a choice of hinged and sliding doors.
